Marie: I've always been interested in languages. I loved my English classes and when I learned Italian as my foreign language in college at Ohio University. I had the chance to study abroad in Florence, Italy; immersing myself in a foreign culture and loving every second of it! Being from a small town in Ohio I didn’t have many chances to experience the complexities and differences of languages, but I always wanted to. As a Linguistics major, I became even more fascinated with the deeper aspects of languages. With a need to travel the world and an overwhelming enthusiasm of knowledge first triggered my desire to teach English abroad. I am taking the courses required to receive a TEFL certificate which will allow me to teach English overseas. Classes include: such as materials in teaching, methodologies, and a teaching practicum. The practicum is called EFA or English For All and is offered to adults who live near the OU campus. My students are at the Intermediate level and are from all over the world. In this practicum I'm part of a team of four teachers. In the future I may not be part of a team, but I'm learning about the dedication, and rewards one puts in and receives from teaching.
